Learning how to draw good cartoons might appear to be daunting but it is actually much easier than you think. One of the most important elements to consider is the character of a good. One of the tricks to good cartooning is to break down the body of the cartoon into basic shapes, such as circles, squares, ovals etcetera. Then after you have though about the personality of the character you want to depict, start filling in a little detail.

Think about the shapes you use, these will define some of the character of the cartoon, for instance a comic-book hero, would probably be square, while a villain might be more triangular in order to appear threatening. Circles and ovals are more suitable for an overall friendly look; just think how circular the faces of Jon and Garfield are?

Once you have penciled in the outline of your cartoon, added the features you require and when you are happy with the result, you can fill in with some color and make the lines darker with ink or a marker. Just remember that faces are often the pivotal point which defines your cartoon character, so if they are old and mean the eyes should be small and if they are young and friendly the eyes should be large and round.

A pen tablet, also known as graphics tablet is a computer gadget, which allows users to draw graphics and images using their hands, much like of drawing in a sketch pad with the use of pencil. One of the first things that many people learn when it comes to art is the color theory. This is the principles of art that covers the area of color mixing as well the effects of the different color combinations. It usually depicted in the form of a wheel or circle which is a form that is suggested by the famous physicist Sir Isaac Newton in 1666. This circle is divided into 3 major parts which include the primary, secondary and tertiary colors.

The primary colors are composed of the colors red, blue and yellow. They are called as such because they are regarded as the colors that are produced by themselves and not by the combination of any other color. They are the basis in which all the other colors are made and usually appear in the form of a triangle when seen on the color wheel.

The secondary colors are produced by mixing any of the two primary colors together. Red and blue produces violet; blue and yellow produces green and yellow and red produces orange. In the color wheel, they are usually placed in between the primary colors that compose them and like also appear in the form of a triangle like the primary colors.

The tertiary colors on the other hand are characterized by their compound names which describes the colors that were mixed to produce the. They are produced by mixing a primary color and a secondary color together. Example of this is blue – green which is made by mixing the primary color blue and the secondary color green; and red orange which is produced from the primary and secondary colors red and orange respectively.
